Ribbon tweeter with SRT membrane, waveguide 110 mm diameter, 8 ohm impedance
The GRT-145 series of ribbon tweeters use a patented technology for sealing the air gap between the ribbon and the poles of the magnets. Developed by Viawave Audio, this technology is called SRT - the sealed ribbon tweeter. The gap is blocked by a U-shaped suspension made of heat-resistant polymer film.
SRT technology radically reduces the nonlinear distortion of the tweeter and allows it to operate at lower frequencies, while maintaining the transparency of the ribbon speakers sounding. Typical subjective GRT-145 sound scores: clarity, natural, with high spatial resolution.
The waveguide provides a more uniform radiation pattern in the working range, reducing the influence of reflected sound in the listening area. Also, the waveguide increases the sensitivity of the tweeter at the lower frequencies of the working range. Thanks to the wave guide, the design of the crossover between the tweeter and mid-frequency driver is simplified.
By combining SRT technology and a powerful magnetic system, a unique sensitivity was achieved for a ribbon of 7 cm2 - 95 dB/W/m in 2 - 10 kHz range.
The rear chamber of the tweeter is filled with a set of felt plates of a certain shape. This way of filling the rear chamber provides a very high repeatability of the parameters of tweeters.
